Pokemon - Sun and Moon - How to Get the Metal Coat in Pokémon Sun and Moon

I've seen this asked in several posts, but no post specifically for it, so here goes.
  1. Have a Pokemon with the "Compound Eyes" in the first spot in your party. It actually works better if this Pokemon is FAINTED. The purpose of this is to increase the chances of a while Pokemon holding an item. This works even if the Pokemon is FAINTED.
  2. Have a Pokemon with the "Frisk" ability in the second spot on your party. This will let you know if the wild Pokemon is holding an item or not. If no message pops up, then there is no point in continuing and you may as well run.
  3. If frisk detects an item, have a Pokemon use the "Thief" move to take the item. Be sure that your Pokemon using Thief has no equipped item, because the stolen item will automatically be equipped. If the Pokemon is holding an item, Thief will still do it's damage but not take the item. Note: I personally use a "Noivern" because it can have the Frisk ability, is also capable of learning Thief, and is high enough in level to be able to run away from everything in the Lost Hotel (Evolves at level 48).
  4. Go to the Lost Hotel, located on Route 15 near the entrance to Dendemille Town. If you have not been there before there will be a few trainer battles. Your goal is to encounter wild "Magnetons". These Pokemon are somewhat rare in this area, but if you just run away from other Pokemon it will save time. Not every Magneton will have a metal coat, but the Compound Eyes will increase the chances and the Frisk will let you know for certain. I recommend just running away from all battles until you encounter a Magneton holding the metal coat. Once you steal one, remember to remove it from the Thief Pokemon before you continue farming.
I have collected a total of 6 extra metal coats using this method in the span of about 3 hours. There are other wild Pokemon capable of holding a metal coat, but this is the earliest point in the game that I was able to find them. Hope some folks will find this helpful.
Edit - Others have brought to my attention that this method can be used to find other items from various pokemon. So far the list includes the following:
I have found it vastly more efficient to use friend Safari for farming now that I have completed the game, especially if you have 2 or 3 of the pokemon that carry metal coat in them.
This method can be used for those items as well.
